Government to launch Tourism Equity Fund─── 10:01 Tue, 26 Jan 2021
Some form of relief for the country's tourism sector is expected to be announced on Tuesday.
The South African Government is expected to officially launch the Tourism Equity Fund on Tuesday. President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to address the virtual event, scheduled for 4pm.
The fund aims to raise investment and transformation in the industry. It's been identified as one of the key priority areas to revive the economy.
Tourism has been one of the sectors hardest hit by the pandemic and lockdown regulations.
The Tourism Equity Fund will offer a combination of debt finance and grant funding for large capital investment projects.
