Blood stocks critically low: SANBS─── THANDI THANDI 08:43 Thu, 09 Apr 2015
Bloemfontein - About 40% of blood collected by the South African National Blood Services (SANBS) comes from schools and universities.
Currently SANBS is experiencing difficultly with regards to blood collections due to the school holidays which means they are unable to host blood drives.
Head of Marketing in the Free State & Northern Cape, Jana Wallace says this has had a negative impact on the national blood stock level.
SANBS is urging South Africans to donate blood. The minimum blood donor requirements include that the person weighs at least 50kg, is between the ages of 16 to 65 and be in general good health.
