Wanted: Police want to question this man for Jayde's murder

───   14:16 Thu, 23 Apr 2015

Several pictures have been released of people of interest in the murder investigation of Jayde Panayiotou.

Herald Live reports one of the men suspected of murdering Panayiotou has been on the run after the hijacking of a pregnant woman from an underground parking area at the Greenacres shopping centre in Port Elizabeth.

The publication also reported that the man was out on bail for a hijacking case in KwaNobuhle when the Greenacres incident occurred.

Shot
According to Algo FM the police in Port Elizabeth say the preliminary investigation into the murder of the Riebeeck College teacher indicates that she was shot.

Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says the post mortem will be conducted either today or tomorrow and will further assist the police with their investigation.

Van Rensburg says police have been working around the clock since Jayde's body was found in an isolated area near KwaNobuhle in Uitenhage yesterday morning.

Link being investigated
Van Rensburg says media speculation that the perpetrators could be the same as in a recent incident, where a woman was abducted in the parking area of a shopping centre in PE, have not been verified but that a possible link is being investigated.

A CCTV footage image of a man making a cash withdrawal from an ATM in Kwanobuhle is being described as a person of interest in the Jayde Panayiotou case.

Anyone with information can contact their nearest police station.

Planned expat marches
South African expatriates in the UAE are planning marches in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain tomorrow in the wake of the murder of Port Elizabeth teacher Jayde Panayoto.

Last night over 4 000 people staged a protest march demanding "Justice for Jayde" and the reinstatement of the death penalty. The impromptu gathering was organised on social media, with news of the get-together spreading like wildfire after Panayiotou's body was found in an isolated area near KwaNobuhle Township in Uitenhage yesterday.

Expat Carol-Anne Poisat is a teacher in Al Ain, which is roughly 100 kilometres inland from Dubai. She says they'll be marching early tomorrow morning in memory of Panayoto and all fellow South Africans whose lives have been taken by crime.
