Today is International Beer Day and this day celebrates all you guys who enjoy chatting over a beer or those of you who get together to enter beer competitions and actually winning them.

According to daysoftheyear.com, this day started in California and it was created to celebrate the craft of brewing. However, as time went by the celebrations started to include bartenders and other beer technicians.

Specific guidelines for celebrating this day are as follows:

• You gather with friends and enjoy the taste of beer
• Celebrate those responsible for brewing and serving beer
• Unite the world under the banner of beer and celebrate all the nations’ beers

So today, invite your friends over and serve nothing but beer. While doing so don’t forget to celebrate and appreciate the people who make it possible. This day comes only once a year, so make it count. Team OFM entered SAB’s Media Beer Tasting Competition Thursday night and walked out champions the second year running. OFM’s beer lovers will soon be representing the Free State at the nationals in Johannesburg.
