FICKSBURG. – With the election of the mayor, his executive committee and various section 80 committees, the Setsoto Municipality will now have seriously address the service delivery problems faced bywith in the municipality, which include Ficksburg, Clocolan, Marquard and Senekal.

Tshediso Jakobo was elected unopposed and so was speaker Pius Mhlomi. Jakobo’s executive committee exist of Komane Koalane; Motena Mthimkhulu; Matshiliso Mahlangu; Moeletsi Lithebe; Thabang Makae; Evert Strydom.

Within minutes after Jakobo’s election, it was said that he is much more assessable than his predecessor Mbothoma Maduna.

Maduna was in the firing line during the recent service delivery protest in the Meqheleng Township, which saw Andries Tatane die, allegedly at the hands of the police.

Jakobo said in his acceptance speech that he hopes to serve all communities within the municipality and more so, engage these communities with regular meetings.

Here is a breakdown of the various committees within the Setsoto Municipality.

Section 80 Committees:
Finance – Komane Koalnae (Chairperson – ANC), Vunga Mohala (ANC), Mookho Semahla (ANC), Thabiso Tsolo (ANC), Clive Marwick (DA), Mpuleng (ANC).

Urban Planning & Housing

Administration & Human Resource
