Krejcir wants bail, again | News Article

Johannesburg - After almost two years behind bars, Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir is again trying to secure bail.

His lawyer, Annelene van den Heever, on Tuesday told the Germiston Magistrate's Court that her client fears for his life.
According to Van den Heever, Krejcir was threatened earlier on Tuesday morning by Colonel Nkosana "Killer" Ximba as he sat in a police vehicle, waiting to be transported to court.

Ximba allegedly approached Krejcir and told him he should remember that he had connections in jail with the 26 and 28 gang and could get him killed.

Ximba was part of the team that arrested Krejcir in November 2013. Krejcir faces a string of charges, including one of conspiring to kill Ximba.

On Tuesday, Krejcir and five others were in court in connection with the murder of Lebanese national Sam Issa, who was killed in a drive-by shooting in November 2013.

Mike Grigorov, who was Krejcir's accountant, appeared alongside him in the dock.

Grigorov also wanted to apply for bail.

Earlier on Tuesday, the State requested that the matter be postponed for three months as it claimed it wanted to make more arrests in connection with Issa's murder.

The State indicated that among those it wanted in the dock was Krejcir's son, Dennis.

He was currently in the Czech Republic.

While it was unclear whether the State had intentions of extraditing Dennis Krejcir back into the country, Van den Heever, for Krejcir, told the court that Dennis wanted to return to South Africa but had been barred from doing so.

She stated that there was a matter before the courts involving Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba. Van den Heever said Gigaba was "vigorously" opposing Dennis's return to the country as he been labelled a "prohibited person".

The details surrounding that matter were unclear.

Meanwhile, the matter was postponed to July 7 for Krejcir and Grigorov's bail application.
