On 1 April 2021, the Revised Employer Assessment Model Regulation under the Compensation Fund was gazetted, revealing the inclusion of domestic employers in the fund.
On Thursday, Bheki Ngcobo from the Department of Employment and Labour broke down the Revised Employer Assessment Model Regulation to the OFM Business Hour, as well as the reduction of classes in the fund.
He explains that domestic workers are now covered by the fund, compelling domestic employers by law to register and declare their annual return of earnings. Furthermore, Ngcobo says domestic workers will now enjoy the same benefits that are offered to other employees in different professions.
