Nail-biting debate between Myburgh, audience during Q&A in Bfn | News Article

The Gangster State book debate produced a riveting question and answer session between the members of the gallery from those who are for the book by Pieter-Louis Myburgh and those opposed to it at the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein.

This took place Thursday afternoon, and members of the public and those implicated in the book by Pieter-Louis Myburgh filled The Odeion to capacity.

While the discussion between Myburgh and the panel was casual, as Myburgh gave the audience insight on how the book came about, the discussion then took a turn when the audience was given a platform to comment.

Among these was Peet Pieterse, from Open Waters, a risk management company implicated with dubious dealings in the book.

Speaking from the audience, Pieterse accused Mybrugh of lying about him and denying him a right to a response in the book.

Another member of the gallery accused Myburgh of prosecuting former Free State Premier Ace Magashule in his book and asked why did he not - as a responsible citizen -  see it fit to report all the corruption claims against the current ANC secretary-general to the police.

However, Myburgh challenged all implicated in the book to take action against him in a court of law. He also told the gathering that he has since been waiting for a lawsuit from Magashule ever since he announced that he was going to sue him.

Earlier, FS ANC spokesperson, Thabo Meeko, told OFM News that the book made dangerous allegations about Magashule and therefore it needed to be engaged as the position of the ruling party in the matter.

The event, however, went smoothly without any hiccups contrary to earlier concerns that the session might be disrupted by those who are against the book.
