Former President Jacob Zuma’s son Duduzane Zuma has denied that he was present at the Gupta’s Saxonwold compound where former Free State Economic Development MEC, Mxolisi Dukwana, was offered a massive bribe if he signed off on a mega-city deal.

Testifying before the Zondo Commission earlier today, Zuma further stated that he found it surprising that he is alleged to have been present at a number of meetings where the Guptas met with various individuals. Dukwana, during his testimony earlier this year, detailed how he was introduced to the Gupta family by former Free State Premier Ace Magashule back in 2011 and how he was offered a massive bribe if he signed the deal. He said Magashule, who is now the ANC’s Secretary-General, took him to the Gupta compound without his knowledge of where they were going and that Rajesh Gupta and Duduzane Zuma were present at that meeting.

Dukwana, in an interview with OFM News, said during his tenure as an MEC, he was offered a R2 million monthly fee in exchange for his signature on a document that would have authorised a R41.8 billion government investment deal to build a "New City" in the Lejweleputswa District Municipality, which would have benefited the controversial Gupta family, Magashule, and their associates.

He said he was soon fired after refusing to sign the document and painted a bleak picture of maladministration and rampant corruption in the Free State under Magashule.

Dukwana has, during his testimony, also told the commission that there was a system of patronage in the Free State during Magashule's tenure and that politicians in the Free State, including the police, were highly compromised from the lowest to the highest rank.
