#CoronavirusNW: Department officials recovering─── LUCKY NKUYANE 14:57 Thu, 16 Jul 2020
The North West Premier, two provincial MECs and the media liaison officer of the Public Works and Roads Department's, are among thousands of patients in North West who are recovering from Covid-19.
Kgomotso Mmusi, who is a Covid-19 contact for MEC Saliva Molapisi, who is in her 14th day of recovery tells OFM News that she no longer has any symptoms of Covid-19. Mmusi adds she no longer exhibits any symptoms of the virus which included coughing and now has her sense of smell back, a few weeks after testing positive for the virus.
She and other officials including her boss Molapisi, Late MEC Gordon Kegakilwe, Virginia Tlhapi and Premier, Job Mokgoro tested positive for Covid-19 during a peak in the rate of infections in the province. So far, 48 in the province have died from the virus.
Mmusi said: "People must not panic, this is just another form of flu and people must give their bodies enough time to rest, and wear masks at all time”. She concedes that she got comfortable around the workspace and ended up not wearing a mask which led to her contracting the virus.
"I must admit I used to wear my mask when I was leaving home for work and when I get to work I would take it off because I was comfortable around my colleagues and my boss, and thought nothing will happen to us.
"But it doesn't work like that because the virus is spread through many ways and people must disinfect their surfaces, wear a mask, sanitize and wash hands as often as they can," Mmusi further adds.
OFM News previously reported that MEC for Health Madoda Sambatha along with Social Development MEC Boitumelo Moiloa, Education MEC Wendy Matsemela, Finance MEC Motlalepula Rosho and Agriculture and Rural Development MEC Desbo Mohono all tested negative for the virus. This group was the contacts for the late Kegakilwe, Molapisi and Premier Mokgoro.
