#GBV: NW man accused of grandmother's murder─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 06:37 Fri, 27 Nov 2020
A 36-year-old man is expected to appear before the Taung Local Magistrate's Court in North West on Friday after his grandmother's body was found buried at their home in Taung.
Police spokesperson, Adéle Myburgh, tells OFM News the police arrested the 36-year-old suspect in Morokweng Village in connection with the 73-year-old woman's murder.
She says the body of the elderly woman was discovered in the same Morokweng Village where it was buried inside a small room of one of the houses in the village.
The murder of the elderly woman comes at a time when the country is observing 16 days of activism for no violence against women and children.
The campaign, commemorated every year between November 25 and December 10, is to encourage men to stop violence against women and children and to encourage members of the public to report cases of abuse.
