Owner of the care centre, Apa van Wyk, tells OFM News that the care centre established a rotation system called Shift Key, which offers childcare assistance to doctors and nurses, based on their work schedules. Van Wyk says that the childcare centre supervises children from 2 months right through to matric.

Van Wyk wants to encourage more people to get involved, either with the Jellytots Childcare Centre or with any other organisations that could offer assistance to our frontline workers.

“Basically, we changed our hours from 06:00 in the morning until 20:00 in the evening for parents who work shifts during the day with Covid-19 patients. Then we also have kids sleeping over at night,“ says Apa.

Van Wyk says in support of healthcare practitioners they decided to drop the prices for this service.

The Jellytots Childcare Centre has undoubtedly relieved healthcare workers of an insurmountable amount of pressure during an unprecedented pandemic. They have surpassed expectations and continue to do so through ensuring that children who are under their care get the necessary education they need, be it online or through various learning centres.

Van Wyk informs OFM News that they have signed contracts with transport agencies that are exclusively for the Jellytots Childcare Centre. The transport system is used to chauffeur the children to and from extra-mural activities. This, in addition to the use of the centres’ own vehicles.

All meals are home-cooked meals and are catered for by the childcare centre, says Van Wyk. He ascertains OFM News that they too have implemented major Covid-19 compliance measures and will continue to do so.
