According to police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, police are still searching for Ausi Jonas following a missing person’s report that was filed earlier this month.

OFM News’ Lee Simmons previously reported it is alleged that Jonas was last seen walking with her mother’s boyfriend in Section R - an area in Botshabelo.

Makhele explains that "On the evening of Saturday 6 March, the girl’s mother had a quarrel with her boyfriend. The next day she went to report the domestic violence-related incident at the police station. Whilst there, the boyfriend left with her daughter."

He says the girl was wearing a blue skirt and was barefoot. She is light in complexion with long hair.

As the police were conducting further investigations, they stumbled upon information that led to the assault of the suspected man by community members. This led to his death. No-one has been arrested for his murder yet, says Makhele.

The police are appealing to residents to notify them should community members have any information pertaining to the whereabouts of the girl.
