According to Provincial Emergency Medical Services (EMS) spokesperson, Sipho Towa, one lane has been opened to allow for traffic to pass the scene. 

He says the accident occurred on the N1 about 10 kilometres from Winburg toward Verkeerdevlei. 

Two cars collided with one heavy motor vehicle. As a result, two people suffered moderate injuries while another sustained minor injuries. The accident occuredaround 5:00. 

Towa adds patients had to be extracted from their vehicles with the Jaws of Life.

Meanwhile, with high traffic volumes expected over the Easter long weekend, provincial police spokesperson for the department of police, roads and transport in the province, Hillary Mophete, says roadblocks will be carried out in different areas of the province.
