NC honours N!UU speaker─── 06:50 Thu, 22 Jul 2021
The Northern Cape Premier, Zamani Saul, together with the Arts and Culture MEC, Desery Fienies, and Finance, Economics development and Tourism MEC, Abraham Vosloo, has honoured heritage hero, Ouma Katrina Esau.
Earlier this week Esau was handed a double cab bakkie by Saul and other officials in the hopes that it will assist her in doing her work. Esau is the only remaining fluent speaker of N!UU language following the death of her brother, Simon Sauls, last month.

Saul said that the gesture formed part of government's efforts in promoting preserving and developing indigenous languages in the province. He also stated that this commitment was made last year during Heritage Month. "We are a small province, and the little that we have we need to protect. Provincial Government remains committed to support Ouma Katrina in ensuring that we preserve the N!UU language," said Saul.
