Two fraud suspects in FS out on bail─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 15:18 Thu, 16 Sep 2021

Two individuals who allegedly defrauded a private company of R8 million over a period of seven years, were arrested by the Hawks on Thursday morning and released on bail.
The Hawks' provincial spokesperson, Christopher Singo, tells OFM News that the two suspects, a supervisor at Sparta Beef and a director of another private company, Safiena Distributors, on Thursday appeared in the Marquard Magistrate's Court. This after they were arrested earlier on Thursday, following allegations that between the period of 2010 and 2017 the duo colluded and stole R8 million.
Singo says the 55-year-old Chatoorsain Hulloowan, employed as a supervisor at Sparta Beef, fraudulently made payments to Saphia Ismail, who was the director of Safiena Distributors. Safiena were in some cases allegedly paid without delivering products. Hulloowan further duplicated weighbridge tickets to Ismail. The times and products were falsely captured on the weighbridge and the registration numbers of the vehicles captured during delivery, were not of the trucks but of sedan vehicles. After every payment made by Sparta to Safiena, there would be a direct transfer of money into Ismail’s bank account. As a result, Sparta Beef suffered a total loss of R8 million.
Singo says that the matter was then reported to the Hawks, who reacted swiftly to arrest the suspects. He says Hulloowan and the 55-year-old Ismail were released on R5000 bail each.
Their case was postponed to 28 October 2021. Both suspects are expected to appear in the Special Crimes Court in Bethlehem.
