Ntombela refutes looming cabinet reshuffle | News Article

Free State Premier Sisi Ntombela has dispelled rumours that she will soon make room for Mxolisi Dukwana in her cabinet.

This, after the Head of the Free State ANC Interim Structure was sworn in as a new member of the Free State Legislature on Tuesday. Dukwana has donned a new hat as a Member of the Provincial Legislature (MPL) following the resignation of Mojalefa Buti.

There are, however, messages making rounds on social media insinuating Dukwana will soon become an MEC. It is alleged he will soon take the reigns as the political head of Cogta - replacing Thembeni Nxangisa; or that of Police, Roads and Transport replacing the well-known Ace Magashule supporter, Sam Mashinini.

Speaking to OFM News amidst allegations of a looming cabinet reshuffle, Ntombela’s spokesperson, Sello Pietersen, says they are aware of the allegations making the rounds, but denies that there is any truth to it.

“We can confirm at this point that there has not been any reshuffling and the Premier has not communicated any intention to reshuffle anytime soon. Should there be a decision by the honourable Premier to do so, we will definitely communicate such a message to the people of our province,” says Pietersen.

He said at this stage is it crucial for the province to maintain “necessary stability”.

Pietersen added that should Ntombela decide to reconfigure the cabinet, it will “not be to accommodate an individual, but in the best interest of the people in the province and to strengthen cabinet”.

Meanwhile, Dukwana is expected to see the Free State to a provincial conference in his capacity as the head of the ANC interim structure.
