Many people were left shocked after threats were made against the SABC-owned Lesedi FM actuality presenters in the Free State.

It is still unclear who sent the threatening message.

The message is linked with the failure of the African National Congress to secure the governance of the Maluti-A-Phofung Local Municipality in the province.

In a message, the likes of Current Affairs producer Dimakatso Motsoeneng and the morning actuality programme anchor Palesa Chubisi were threatened to be killed and raped, with the allegations that they played a key role in the failure of the party in the province.

The ANC has lost the leadership in Maluti-A-Phofung.

Currently, the party is the opposition of the civil organisation, Maluti-A-Phofung 16 (MAP 16).

Speaking to OFM News, the current affairs executive producer Naka Moloi said he can't comment at this stage since the matter is being handled at the SABC's headquarters, in Auckland Park in Johannesburg. He confirms  that a case has been opened.

Nonetheless, the interim spokesperson for the ANC in the Free State, Oupa Khoabane distances his party from threats made against the presenters.

He said those who are linked to these threats should be found and charged.
