#ANCvsANC: Allegations made that Monyakoane's stabbing was orchestrated | News Article

Some of the ANC members who are upset with the Free State ANC's Interim Provincial Committee (IPC), alleges that the stabbing of a former Member of the Mayoral Committee in the Bloemfontein-based Mangaung Metro was orchestrated within the party.

Despite failing to mention who might be the likely culprit stabbing former MMC Patrick Monyakoane, ANC members who protested outside the ANC headquarters on Monday says this was a hit on him.

Yesterday, scores of disgruntled ANC members picketed outside the offices of the party in Bloemfontein and demanded to speak to the leadership of the IPC. Party supporters who spoke to OFM News wants Monyakoane to be reinstated as the MMC, and also the Mangaung Interim Regional Committee replaced by a task team (RTT).

These supporters on Monday accused both regional and provincial structures of allowing corruption to thrive in Mangaung.

Meanwhile, OFM News previously reported that Monyakoane was affected by the party's step aside resolution. He has been suspended from the party. This was confirmed by the ANC Mangaung Interim Regional Committee spokesperson, Ncamisa Ngxangisa. He said the structure met recently to deliberate on the adopted step aside policy. A decision to suspend those facing charges of corruption or serious crime in a court a law was then taken, and Monyakoane was affected. Monyakoane is facing charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in Thaba Nchu's regional court, following an attack on former ANC members in 2012.
