#PPE tenders: More investigations underway─── 10:10 Sun, 13 Mar 2022
The Hawks' Serious Corruption Investigation unit is looking into more allegations related to irregularities in Covid-19 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) procurement at the Northern Cape Department of Health.
This comes in the wake of the Hawks’ successful search and seizure operation at the Department’s offices in Kimberley.
According to the Hawks’ spokesperson, Teboho Thebe, the team was able to seize computers hard drives, memory sticks, and external hard drives, which they believe will help them a great deal with their investigations.

The provincial premier, Dr Zamani Saul recently announced his government has partnered with the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) and the Hawks to launch the Local Government Anti-Corruption Forum.

The partnership against corruptions comes on the heels of the Department of Health’s Head and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Dion Garvey Theys and Mosimanagape Daniel Gaborone’s arrest by the Hawks.
They were apprehended for allegedly awarding PPE contracts amounting to R43 million to two companies without following the prescribed procurement procedures in 2020.
