Mangaung warned of water interruptions─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 06:53 Thu, 17 Mar 2022
Residents of the Mangaung Metro Municipality have been warned of possible water disruptions.
This is due to the planned shutdown of the Welbedacht pipeline, by BloemWater, that will continue until Friday. According to a statement issued by Metro, affected areas may include Pellessier, Universitas, Langenhoven Park, Gardenia Park, Wepener and Dewetsdorp.
Bloemfontein will also be repairing a burst pipe at Maselspoort and this may affect places such as Bayswater, Heuwelsig, Pentagon Park, Northridge and Bloemfontein's CBD.
The metro advises residents and business owners to make necessary arrangements.
In the meantime, it has also been reported that Soutpan will also experience water cuts due to cable theft.

Meanwhile, OFM News previously reported the inability to deliver services as cardinal as water and sanitation, has been the focus of Water and Sanitation Minister Senzo Mchunu's meetings with the Free State Government.
"The inability to deliver services as cardinal as water and sanitation is an infringement of human rights, an injustice that can no longer be justified for no particular reason, 28 years after the dawn of our democratic South Africa". These are the words of Mchunu following his meeting with provincial government officials.
According to a statement issued by the Free State government, Mchunu's visit forms part of the broader ongoing programme to accelerate the provision of water and sanitation, strengthen relations between the ministry, provincial government, municipalities, and communities.
Mchunu raised concerns over the state of infrastructure maintenance, poor water management, and municipalities' failure to pay debts. He said that on average, 40% of water across Free State municipalities is lost due to a lack of maintenance resulting in leakages.
