NC premier visits aggrieved family of murdered girl (11)─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 10:39 Mon, 04 Apr 2022

The Northern Cape Premier Zamani Saul has on Monday morning visited the aggrieved family of the 11-year-old Relebogile Segami, whose body was discovered behind the Provincial Legislature's building last week.
His visit comes after the police spokesperson in the Northern Cape, Olebogeng Tawana, had announced the successful arrest of the 24-year-old suspect who was charged with the murder of the deceased.
This is but one of many cases of murders of women who has been reported by the police across the towns as the issue of femicide continues to raise its ugly head. Following his visit to the family, Saul expressed his sadness and condemned the brutal murder of the 11-year-old Segami. He welcomed the arrest of the suspect and called on community members to allow law enforcement agencies to continue with investigations.

“We are firmly behind this family. We support them during this difficult time. We are calling on the community, anyone who’s got any information around the disappearance, rape and murder of Lebo [Relebogile Segami], to come forth and assist us in ensuring that the person who’s responsible for this will rot behind bars. The family is here, deeply pained by this. Will have to do whatever we can as a community to protect our girl children and to protect our women against gender-based violence (GBV),” said Saul.
