Rubber bullets were fired at protesters at the Witrand Hospital in Potchefstroom in the North West on Thursday.

Hospital staff are protesting over money they claim is owed to them.

A meeting was held on Thursday to try and bring an end to staff's unhappiness at the hospital. The facility was ransacked and rubbish was strewn all over its passages.

It's believed some staff members are responsible.

OFM News reported on Wednesday about the protests of disgruntled employees at the Potchefstroom Hospital.

Angry workers, including nurses, allege that the hospital's management has neither paid their overtime nor their moonlighting shifts. They further allege that instead of being financially remunerated, the hospital would reward them with a day off. According to student nurses at the hospital, they have been sent home by the North-West University as a safety precaution.

He adds that the department vowed to investigate these allegations.
