More than 200 people gathered at the intersection leading to the township, burning tyres. The group said there is nepotism and corruption involved in a road maintenance project supposed to benefit locals.
Following a lengthy meeting between protest leaders and Tswaing mayor Nora Mahlangu as well as her executive, the parties reach an agreement that a sub-contractor - whom the community is not happy with - will halt work as of Monday.

Speaking to residents after the meeting, protest leader William Moatlhodi said their demands have been met.
Tswaing MMC for Safety, Modisaotsile Molamuagae, said he was not happy that protesters were not allowing even emergency personnel to make use of the road, saying negotiations should come first and essential services should not be compromised.
