Free State residents 'being scammed'─── 11:53 Thu, 28 Apr 2022
The water entity for the Maluti-A-Phofung Local Municipality in the Free State, MAP Water, is concerned about scammers defrauding residents out of their money.
MAP Water spokesperson, Kelopile Mongake, tells OFM News that the entity has regrettably learned that there are fraudsters roaming the streets of the municipality, defrauding community members by collecting money while posing as MAP Water debt collectors.
She adds that the entity would like to state clearly that its procedure, policies, and by-laws regulating any form of payment from consumers allows for payments to be only done at its designated pay points at the municipality, or at MAP Waters offices in Qwaqwa, Kestell, and Harrismith.
She added MAP Water would like to apologise to anyone who might have been a victim of these fraudsters.
