Matlosana welcomes new acting municipal manager─── 10:31 Fri, 06 May 2022
The City of Matlosana Local Municipality in Klerksdorp in the North West has welcomed Lesego Seametso as the new municipal manager on an acting basis.
This was in terms of section 54A of the Local Government: Municipal System Act 32 of 2000.
Seametso replaces Roger Nkhumise, whose five-year fixed-term contract was not renewed when it ended on the 30th of April 2022.
Nkhumise was in and out of court during his term of office, facing charges of tender irregularities.
Municipal spokesperson, Ntswaki Makhetha, says Seametso is an experienced public servant who has worked as a chief executive officer of the Northern Cape Gambling Board before.
"She has also been working as a director of Corporate Services and has before acted as the municipal manager several times at the municipality," said Makhetha.
Seametso will be accountable for municipal services income, expenditures, assets and other obligations such as proper adherence to legislation applicable to the municipality.
Makhetha told OFM News that she will ensure that an integrated development plan is a reality and that the municipality delivers services in a sustainable and balanced manner.
