North west ANC members and supporters of former premier Supra Mahumapelo are aiming for his comeback.

This, as they declared their intentions to re-elect Mahumapelo for the chairperson seat, comes the provincial conference.

Members of the party supporting Mahumapelo, say they never gave up hope since his removal in 2018, stressing that the motive was aiming at "tarnishing him in the party".

ANC North West provincial conference was expected to take place by June, however regional conferences have not taken place at this stage, and a source told OFM News that June may not be possible at the rate things are progressing.

Speaking to OFM news, former ANC secretary in Dr Kenneth Kaunda District, Lopang Rothman - whos is with the "One Supra One North West" campaign - said their campaign will not have a list of officials, and that only Mahumapelo will be the face of their bigger picture.

OFM News has been reliably informed that another candidate eying the chairperson seat is former MEC for Human settlement, Nono Maloyi, and at this stage the two are front-runners.

Mahumapelo has boldly spoken out against his removal, saying it was planned and funded by members of the organisation, and says he is willing to tell all to the national council of provinces.

In 2021, membership of Mahumapelo together with the acting secretary of ANCWL Bitsa Lenkopane, were terminated - a decision which later was thrown out in court.
