Committee raises concerns about North West following flooding─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 09:04 Sat, 02 Jul 2022
The Ad Hoc Joint Committee on Flood Disaster Relief and Recovery has raised concerns about the backlog of service delivery in the Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality in North West.
This follows after the committee's oversight visit this past week to assess the extent of the damage caused by the floods that took place this year.
During their oversight visit, the committee discovered that R4 billion is required to repair and replace the damaged road infrastructure.
In a statement, the committee raised the importance of the provincial government gaining access to funding to address the aftermath of floods.
Following the visit to the affected areas, the committee now believes that it is more equipped, as it plans on engaging with various cabinet ministers responsible for Finance, Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation, as well as Premiers of the affected areas.
