Vaal residents intercept Emfuleni's State of the Municipality Address─── 11:26 Sat, 02 Jul 2022
Residents of Evaton in the Vaal Triangle prevented the Emfuleni Local Municipality's State of the Municipality Address (SOMA) by Mayor Sipho Radebe from taking place.
In a service delivery protest, disgruntled residents blockaded three main roads leading to Wilberforce College, where the SOMA was supposed to take place.
Residents are unhappy after they have been without electricity for two months, and are experiencing continuous water supply interruptions.
The intercepted SOMA was scheduled to take place yesterday.
In a short statement following this incident, the municipality says electricity to this part of the Vaal is supplied by Eskom and not by the municipality.
