Ousted Centlec CFO in court to fight court order─── LUCKY NKUYANE 11:08 Thu, 28 Jul 2022
The ousted Centlec Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is expected to head to the Free State High Court on Thursday, following a court interdict that was granted in favour of the Mangaung Metro Municipality’s power entity.
On Tuesday, Judge Soma Naidoo gave an order which directed the ousted CFO, Hlonelwa Nkomo, to make a representation to the court as to why the interim court order, granted in favour of Centlec, should not be made permanent. She was interdicted from holding a media briefing and passing herself off as the CFO after the utility made an urgent application to the court on Monday. The interdict follows her initial court litigation against the embattled Centlec's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Malefane Sekoboto. Nkomo is seeking to have Sekoboto declared a delinquent manager by the court.
Nkomo took a shot at the utility for allegedly using taxpayers’ money to defend Sekoboto. She accused the entity of wasting taxpayers’ money by getting involved in a matter that does not even involve it. She says the civil litigation against Sekoboto has nothing to do with the entity, however, the entity uses its money to fight his battles.

Nkomo, in her affidavit disposed in court on 29 June 2022, makes damning allegations against Sekoboto and indicates that there are no signed minutes of a board meeting of the entity, showing that Sekoboto was employed as such.
“Upon the said appointment, the respondent failed to disclose he is not eligible for appointment as the director does not satisfy the qualifications as per the company’s memorandum of incorporation. Upon the said appointment, the respondent failed to disclose that he has been convicted of criminal offenses, which would have disqualified the respondent from serving as a director,” Nkomo added in her court affidavit.
She has also produced a case number as evidence to the court in her attempt to have Sekoboto declared a delinquent director. He is also being accused of abusing his power as the CEO.
