The Free State MEC for Police, Roads, and Transport is expected to meet with the Ladybrand Taxi Association on Wednesday to discuss some of the pressing issues that the industry is faced with.
OFM News previously reported that one of the issues other Free State taxi associations had recently complained about, is taxi operators who are without permits, and this includes taxi owners who are teachers, traffic officers, municipal and government officials, amongst others.

Meanwhile, MEC William Bulwane had set the record straight that illegal taxi operators will be arrested. This after reports that some members of the Pan-African Transport Corporation were operating without permits. The corporation had also battled over routes with members of the Qwaqwa United Taxi Association (Qwauta), who operates lawfully. In his previous meeting with the Welkom Taxi Association, Bulwane had promised to find a lasting solution to their issues following a protest that saw Welkom CBD being a ghost town.
