The appointment of two new senior directors at the Maluti-A-Phofung Local Municipality in the Free State, has been welcomed by the Executive Mayor, Gilbert Mokotso.
Sam Makhubo and Mampe Sepheka has been appointed as the directors of Corporate Service and Community Service, respectively.
Speaking about how the two departments have been without directors for a long time, the mayor said that those are the crucial departments that could not just be ignored.
He, however, shared with the newly appointed directors that the municipality is facing serious challenges that include, among others, electricity supply to the community.
Makhubo says illegal appointments in the municipality will be one of his duties to look after.
On the other hand, his counterpart Sepheka promised to ensure that the community parks are well maintained as they play a vital role as far as the municipal finances are concerned.
She adds that this will be performed by engaging ward councilors.
Another departments that are still operating without the presence of directors include the Public Safety and Local Economic Development (LED) departments.
Mokotso said directors for those departments will soon be announced.
