North West police spokesperson Adele Myburgh tells OFM News that the body that was discovered with a gunshot wound will possibly be formally identified later today, as the mortuary only opened this morning.

OFM News previously reported that the deceased was discovered inside a bakkie with a gunshot wound to his head. This happened after police were called to the scene of an accident at a robot intersection in Paardekraal, Boitekong on 1 January 2023 at about 00:00 where a minibus and a double-cab bakkie were allegedly involved in an accident.

The other two injured passengers from a minibus taxi were taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

"I can confirm that Boitekong police are investigating an inquest as well as reckless and negligent driving cases."
