Double murder investigated in Britstown─── ZENANDE MPAME 13:26 Wed, 07 Jun 2023
A Northern Cape man assaulted his 42-year-old wife and 22-year-old stepson with an axe at their Britstown home on 2 June 2023.
The 44-year-old husband used an axe to attack his wife and stepson before attempting to hang himself.
“Family members saved the husband after they found him hanging from the roof in the bedroom. The suspect and both victims were rushed to the hospital for medical treatment,” said Northern Cape Police spokesperson, Sergio Kock.
The wife and stepson both suffered serious head injuries and died a few hours later.
The suspect remains hospitalised under police guard and is in a serious condition.
Kock says the police in Britstown are investigating the double murder and the motive is not yet known.
