The biggest mall in the Free State, the Loch Logan Waterfront in Bloemfontein, had more than 8 000 cars in its parking lot on Saturday 24 June 2023.

This was partly due to the Currie Cup final that took place at the Toyota Stadium. The centre’s marketing manager, Meryl Henning, says they are grateful to all the rugby players. “Just on Saturday, restaurants were packed from early morning until late in the evening. The number of people who visited the mall doubled on this day,” she said.

Just a day before the game, close to 30 000 tickets had already been sold. Henning said it’s a blessing that the mall is so close to the stadium, as stores and restaurants always benefit during sporting events, both big and small.
