Provincial police spokesperson, Loraine Earle, said after the police were called to the crime scene on 29 June 2023 and found three bodies, they were identified as that of Christo (36) and Janine Theron (35), and Betsie Kruger (65).

Earle added the police were on the crime scene until late afternoon to collect evidence. Preliminary investigations indicate that the three family members were tied up and strangled.

"It is unknown how many perpetrators were involved. The suspect(s) took an undisclosed amount of cash, a laptop and personal items," she said.

Betsie Kruger (65)

Parents of children who attended the daycare centre where the crime took place, described Kruger as someone who was the best at taking care of children. One of the parents said the 65-year-old was so caring. She had a strong bond with the children and a great relationship with the parents.

Concerns have been raised by parents who do not know which step to take next with the care of their children.
