Porsche Cayenne confiscated at the border─── ZENANDE MPAME 09:38 Fri, 30 Jun 2023
Police recovered a Porsche Cayenne GTS SUV on Tuesday 27 June 2023 at the Oshoek Port of Entry, which was reportedly purchased through the submission of fraudulent documents.
The driver of a white Porsche Cayenne with Gauteng registration plates wanted to cross the border and enter the Kingdom of Eswatini as police were executing their duties. The border police followed verification procedures to make sure it wasn't stolen.
They learned that the car was falsely reported as stolen in Klerksdorp, Gauteng, in May 2023.
Further inquiries revealed the vehicle originally belonged to a Krugersdorp car dealer and when it was sold, fraudulent paperwork was apparently supplied for processing. The car was now owned by a financial institution that had funded the purchase.
The car has been impounded for further investigation and it is estimated to be worth R600 000.
The woman who was driving the car has not been arrested yet.
Since it was discovered that there is something sinister regarding this vehicle, an investigation has been launched.
