A 55-year-old father is set to appear before the Boshof Magistrate's Court in the Free State on Monday morning after shooting his own son.
Provincial police spokesperson, Stephen Thakeng, said on 1 July 2023 at about 16:00, police were informed about a shooting incident which took place at Blesbok Street, Kareehof, in Boshof. When they arrived at the scene, they saw a man lying on the ground. They asked his father what happened. The father told the police that he shot his son after a heated argument. Thakeng added the 35-year-old son was admitted to the hospital for medical treatment after he was shot in his left leg.
The 55-year-old father was arrested and his 9mm pistol with ammunition was also confiscated. According to Thakeng, the suspect who is facing charges of attempted murder, is the licensed owner of the 9mm pistol.
