The death toll in the N6 accident which occurred between Rouxville and Smithfield in the Free State this morning has now increased to seven after two more bodies were discovered trapped in a bus.

OFM News earlier reported that five people died following a head-on collision between a truck and bus this morning.  The Free State Emergency Medical Services spokesperson, Sipho Towa, says the number of fatalities has increased to seven. This was after the discovery of two more bodies that were trapped inside the bus. Towa had earlier reported that six passengers suffered moderate injuries, one was critically injured, and 36 suffered minor injuries. All patients were transported to the Smithfield Hospital.

The road remains closed as authorities and emergency personnel continue with investigations on the scene.
