Provincial police spokesperson, Mmako Mophiring, alleged that on 3 July 2023, at about 03:30, a security guard was on duty at the guard room when he heard gunshots at the guest house and went to inspect the room. Upon his arrival, he found two bodies – a 35-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman – in a pool of blood. It’s understood that the two deceased were dating.

Mophiring said the police were informed about the incident at about 08:30 and attended the crime scene. The two deceased sustained fatal gunshot wounds. One had wounds in the hand, arm, and face, while the other sustained wounds in the head, arm, and shoulder. The deceased were identified by security guards but not yet by their families.

He added the motive behind the killing is not yet known and police are investigating a case of murder. Community members have been requested to assist with information that may lead to the arrest and conviction of the suspects. Mophiring said the suspects are unknown at this stage.
