A 17-year-old boy from Sannieshof will participate in the auctioneer competition in Clanwilliam in October. Zac Haasbroek is part of the North West’s Youth Show Team in the auctioneer category.

Haasbroek left officials of the Department of Education in awe on Monday (28/8) when he gave a demonstration at an exhibition to show off their skills at the school.

“I’ve always found auctions very fascinating, and I am proud of myself for being part of the North West Youth Show team.

“I also know that the competition will be tough but I am going to work and practise hard and give my best,” said the Grade 11 learner.

Zac’s mom, Karen, told OFM News that he only learned how to be an auctioneer by watching YouTube videos, and local farmers would go with him to auctions.

“As a family, we are extremely proud of Zac. The support we have received from the community, teachers, friends, and family is amazing. So we hope and pray that he will continue working hard, giving his best, and making his dream of becoming an auctioneer come true,” she said.

He finds joy in helping out on local farms and going hunting and fishing.
