No criminal case was opened but a judicial inquiry was launched after an incident at a Day Care Centre in Matlhare Street, Ikageng.

A judicial inquiry was opened at the Ikageng Police Station last week (29/8) after the tragic death of a two-year-old.

No criminal case was opened but a judicial inquiry was launched after an incident at a Day Care Centre in Matlhare Street, Ikageng.

“The boy is said to have been playing with other kids near a bookshelf that had a television placed on top. When the bookshelf was bumped, the television fell on one of the children,” said North West police spokesperson Adéle Myburgh.

The toddler was immediately rushed to Boiki Tlhapi Clinic but was declared dead upon arrival.

No arrests were made as this is not a criminal case.
