Four suspects are on the run after robbing and murdering a store manager in Bloemfontein.

Free State police spokesperson Thabo Covane said police received a complaint from Jerusalem Tuckshop in Khotsong Location in Mangaung on Tuesday (6/9). Upon arrival, they discovered a man sprawled on the floor with a gunshot wound in his chest.

The co-workers who witnessed the attack told police that three unknown males stormed inside the store and ended up shooting the store manager following a tussle. It’s understood the assailants then helped themselves to an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes from the tuckshop.

The store manager was declared dead on the scene.

Covane said they then joined the fourth suspect who remained in a Caramel Mini Cooper with Gauteng Province registration plates, used as a getaway car. Police were further informed the suspect who pulled the trigger was speaking English; is about 1.75 meters tall with short hair.

Meanwhile, the victim was declared dead on the scene by Emergency Health Services personnel.

“Police experts were summoned to process the scene. A case docket for Murder and Business robbery was opened at Kopanong Police Station,” added Covane.

Members of the public who might have information about the whereabouts of the suspects are requested to contact Captain Sias Smit at 082-3016-382/063-6921-196 or visit the nearest police station.
