Sasolburg municipality breaks silence over recent allegations─── LUCKY NKUYANE 09:33 Sat, 23 Sep 2023

“We note the development and will allow the police to do its work.”
The embattled Sasolburg-based Metsimaholo Local Municipality in the Free State has finally broken its silence following the recent events that led to the municipality making headlines for all the wrong reasons.
OFM News previously reported that a damning report by Molefi Ntleru Inc Attorneys found that DA Mayor Jeff Zwane allegedly interfered with matters of administration and that the municipal manager and chief financial officer were involved in corrupt activities. The report looked into matters of corruption regarding a security tender worth R2.4 million.
The EFF also planned to bring a motion of no confidence against him and the council speaker after this forensic report.

This led to the EFF opening a criminal case against the trio following the report.
However, the municipal spokesperson, Gino Alberts, told OFM News that they note the development and will allow the police to do its work. Albert said the municipality will only be able to respond to all these allegations once the police conclude its investigation into the aforementioned matters.
The DA earlier picketed in defence of its mayor.
In this leaked report it’s alleged a certain service provider inflated prices immediately after being illegally appointed to render services to the municipality. It has since recommended that disciplinary action be taken against them and they be reported to the police for their alleged involvement in this irregular security tender.
