“He was linked through fingerprints, with six cases in Free State, Limpopo, Northern Cape, and KwaZulu-Natal.”

Several men were roaming around farms in Delareyville on Sunday (1/10), and police were notified and confronted the individuals.

David Mathebula (54) was recognised when approached as a wanted suspect for tampering with and damaging critical infrastructure, and stealing cell phone tower batteries worth R32 000.

He briefly appeared in the Atamelang Magistrate’s Court on Monday (2/10) facing charges of tampering with and causing damage to essential infrastructure and theft of cell phone tower batteries.

He is expected to appear in the regional court on 10 November.

OFM News previously reported that Mathebula was wanted in five provinces and arrested in the Free State.

“Following his arrest, he was linked through fingerprints, with six cases in Free State, Limpopo, Northern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.”

“Furthermore, he was linked with crimes committed in Madibogo, Piet Plessis, Taung, Bray, and Morokweng between June 2014 and September 2018,” said North West police spokesperson, Sabata Mokgwabone.

Mathebula was remanded in custody until his next court appearance.
