The JB Marks Municipality has issued a caution to residents regarding ongoing delays in water restoration across several areas. It is linked to challenges encountered during the upgrade of the Ventersdorp Road Pump Station.

Work at the pump station, which was intended to improve water supply infrastructure, has faced setbacks after a leak was detected on the main supply line. This leak has hampered water pumping to the Eersterandjies reservoirs, pushing back the expected completion timeline, said JB Marks spokesperson Jeanette Tshite.

The municipality confirmed the technical services team remains on-site, working to address the issue and finalise remaining tasks. The infrastructure shutdown was required to enable the installation of new pumps, a valve on the main supply line, and a bulk water meter, all part of a broader plan to enhance water delivery and management.

This includes:

  • Promosa
  • Mohadin
  • Dassierand
  • The SANDF Base
  • Witrand Hospital
  • Kannonierspark
  • All Ikageng Extension areas
  • The Eersterandjies reservoirs

Tshite has apologised for the inconvenience and disruption. Despite efforts to fast-track the upgrades, frustration continues to grow among residents, many of whom have already faced extended periods of unreliable service.

This situation follows a series of pump maintenance projects previously reported across the JB Marks jurisdiction. The ongoing delays and recurring service interruptions have raised concerns over the effectiveness of these interventions.

The municipality has assured residents updates will be provided as soon as work is completed and normal water supply resumes.
