The stage is set in Bloemfontein for the Mr Central South Africa 2025 crowning finale. On Saturday (15/11), Mr Central South Africa, in partnership with Pacofs, will host the final event.

The evening will begin with a red carpet and pre-show entertainment at 17:30, leading up to the main event at 19:00, where the seven finalists will compete for the title. Founded and directed by Theo King, Mr Central South Africa was launched in 2017 and crowned its first winner in 2018.

King describes the organisation not merely as a pageant, but as a learnership programme aimed at empowering young men to become the best versions of themselves. This purpose, he adds, is what distinguishes them from other male pageants in South Africa.

“Mr Central South Africa is more than a beauty pageant; we call it a programme because it’s essentially a learnership where we help young men grow and develop into their best selves. We also stand firmly against gender-based violence,” said King.

Road to final seven

The selection process began with over 100 entries from across the country, eventually narrowing down to seven finalists. The selection criteria go beyond physical appearance; muscles and six-packs are not the focus.

Instead, the organisation seeks young men who are passionate about making a difference.

“We’re not all about looks or muscles and six-packs. That’s not what defines us. We’re about men who want to bring change. That’s what we do,” King said.

Despite the positive impact of the initiative, King revealed that securing public support remains a challenge, particularly when it comes to ticket sales.

He emphasised the importance of community attendance to witness firsthand the difference the organisation is making. Beyond the pageant, Mr Central South Africa runs several outreach projects, including Kasi Connect, an entrepreneurship initiative that aims to combat poverty and strengthen communities.

“A few years ago, we were recognised by the World Heritage Pageant in Mumbai, India, after they saw the great work we were doing. They invited Mr Central South Africa to participate in their international pageant,” King said.
