Search underway for sexual assault and murder plot suspect─── REFILWE BEKANE 10:30 Wed, 04 Feb 2026
Police in Bloemfontein have launched a manhunt for a 32-year-old suspect wanted in connection with an alleged online dating rape and conspiracy to commit murder.
The Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court issued a warrant of arrest after the charges were formalised. Investigators from the Kopanong and Parkweg police stations are tracking the suspect’s movements in the region. At approximately 14:00 on Sunday, 11 May, Kopanong police were called to Muirfield Flats in North End Street, Navalsig.
A 35-year-old woman reported that she had met a man known as “Shane Carson” through Facebook. He had invited her to his home for their first date.

The woman alleged that the suspect served her juice, which left her feeling physically exhausted and disoriented. “The suspect then allegedly moved the victim to the bathroom, where he proceeded to rape her,” said Free State police spokesperson Sergeant Mahlomola Kareli.
She was later permitted to step outside for air, at which point she managed to exit the premises. The man was later identified by police as Lloyd Mcdonald Siswe Jacobs. Investigations revealed that Jacobs allegedly uses multiple aliases on social media to lure and target victims.
“We are appealing to anyone who may have fallen victim to this suspect, or who may have information regarding his current whereabouts, to come forward,” said Kareli.

In addition to the sexual assault case, Jacobs is also wanted by Parkweg police in connection with a separate case involving conspiracy to commit murder. This investigation remains ongoing.
Due to his alleged modus operandi on digital platforms, police have classified Jacobs as a continuing threat. Authorities are urging the public to exercise extreme caution when meeting people through social media platforms.
