Bloemfontein double murder accused abandons bail bid─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 14:47 Wed, 18 Feb 2026
A foreign national accused of murdering two women in Bloemfontein has abandoned his bid for bail.
Lesotho national Ramokoatsi Leferesane, 34, who also goes by the name “Maliehe Maliehe,” appeared before the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday (17/2) for a formal bail application. He faces two counts of murder, and of illegal possession of a firearm, and illegal immigration.
The State opposed Leferesane’s release. His case was postponed to 19 March for further investigation. He remains in custody, said Free State police spokesperson Sgt Mahlomola Kareli.
The charges stem from a discovery in the Namibia Square area on Sunday (9/2) at around 01:50. The bodies of two women with gunshot wounds to the back of their heads were found in the street near a home.
The victims were identified as Tefelo Consolation Monyooe, 27, and Malefu Tenei, 26, both foreign nationals.
“This discovery followed an earlier incident (the day before) in the Bloemspruit area. The body of an unknown female, approximately in her mid-30s, was discovered on the side of Meadows Road,” said Kareli.
