R100,000 reward following Emfuleni accountant’s murder─── ZENANDE MPAME 11:15 Thu, 16 Apr 2026
A R100,000 reward is being offered to anyone who may have credible, relevant, and concrete information to assist law enforcement in arresting the murderers of a murdered Emfuleni municipality accountant.
The Aubrey Tau Foundation said it condemned the brutal and senseless killing of Martha Mani Rantsofu, 39, who was gunned down in Vanderbijlpark. The political killings task team (PKTT) is investigating the murder of the finance official.
Rantsofu was laid to rest on Saturday (11/4). As an accountant in the Vereeniging-based municipality’s finance department, she handled municipal accounts and debts. She was gunned down in Vanderbijlpark on Monday, 30 March.
CCTV footage doing the rounds on social media shows how Rantsofu was shot and killed while waiting for her vehicle at a tyre-fitting shop. An unknown man walked up behind her and fired multiple shots before running towards the getaway car.

“The Aubrey Tau Foundation condemns the brutal and senseless killing of Martha Mani …” said the foundation’s founder, Aubrey Tau. “The brutality has not only sent shockwaves but has instilled fear amongst finance and patriotic employees in municipalities across the country.
“Whilst the circumstances surrounding the brutal murder are still being investigated, we are reminded of many other whistleblowers and courageous South Africans who were also killed in their line of work for standing for the truth.”
The foundation offers a R100,000 reward to any South African who may have information that may assist law enforcement to bring Rantsofu’s murderers to book. Information can be sent to 010 001 1060, he said.
The Sowetan reports the tyre fitment centre employee says he was traumatised by having to put the woman’s tyre back into the vehicle while her lifeless, bloodied body lay nearby.
When the first shot went off, he thought it was a tyre bursting; however, he realised it was not when the gunfire continued. “I had just moved from her when she was killed, the tyre was not even fixed yet, I had to finish it while her body lay on the floor.”
Emfuleni mayor Sipho Radebe urged the community to refrain from spreading rumours about this and to give the PKTT a chance to deal with the matter.
